WLCN will again bring its audience coverage of Lincoln Community High School Railer football as Lincoln opens its season August 27 at home against the Clinton Maroons.

Bob Verderber and Ken Schweitzer will once again be on the call as WLCN provides live coverage on the radio at 96.3 FM, on mobile devices via the Mixlr app and with livestream video via our YouTube channel.

2021 Balloons Over 66 Weekend Runs August 27, 28 & 29

The Balloons Over 66 weekend will bring a flurry of activities to Lincoln over the weekend of August 27, 28 and 29. Events are scheduled on all three days with something for everyone, including all kinds of entertainment such as exhibits, a backyard barbeque competition, music, a car show, the Dock Dogs, and numerous other events including, of course, balloon launches! Cheap Seats Saturday Morning Sports Show Welcomes IlliniGuys hosts by phone August 21

Catch Cheap Seats this Saturday with hosts Scott Kirby, Jake Johnston and Joe Ryan as they welcome by phone two hosts of the IlliniGuy Sports Spectacular Show, Mike Cagley and Brad Sturdy. The show will take place LIVE from Four Corners Lube at 1101 Woodlawn Road in Lincoln. And be sure to stay tuned after Cheap Seats when the IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular Show makes its debut on WLCN from 10 AM to noon.

Cheap Seats Saturday Morning Sports Show to broadcast from Ralph Gale Baseball Field on August 14

The Cheap Seats Saturday Morning Sports Show will be on the road at Lincoln Junior High School’s Ralph Gale Field on August 14 at 9 AM prior to the ceremonies commemorating the upgrade to the facilities. As usual, Cheap Seats will broadcast from 9 AM to 10 AM on 96.3 FM and via the Mixlr app as well as livestream video of the show via WLCN’s YouTube channel.

While the show is scheduled to end at 10 AM, WLCN will livestream the grand opening ceremonies slated to begin at 10 AM prior to the game between LJHS and Chester-East Lincoln.

IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular Show Debuts August 21 on WLCN 96.3 FM

Fighting Illini sports fans will have a new way to keep up with the latest news and information about University of Illinois teams as well as others in the region as WLCN 96.3 FM in Atlanta adds the IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular syndicated radio show to its lineup.

The IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular program premieres August 21 at 10 AM on WLCN and will air each week right after WLCN’s long-running Cheap Seats Saturday Morning Sports Show, the No. 1-rated sports show of all programs originating on Saturdays between 9 AM and 10 AM in Logan County. The IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular will run until noon with the hosts discussing Illini sports along with other Illinois area-related teams such as the Bears, Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks, White Sox and Cardinals.

“Lincoln is a sports-minded town,” said WLCN station manager Jim Ash. “The IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular Show will complement WLCN’s coverage of local athletics by providing our listeners with additional insights and information about the Illini and other teams in the region.”

WLCN provides live coverage of the 2021 Logan County Fair (including livestreams of queen pageant and demolition derby)

As the calendar turns to August 2021, that means it’s time for the Logan County Fair!

The Logan County Fair is scheduled for August 1 through August 8, featuring a large schedule of events for the young and young at heart. And once again, WLCN will be providing live coverage throughout the fair for listeners and–in the case of two events–viewers.

Bob Metz will once again anchor live updates several days throughout the fair. Those updates are scheduled for
Tuesday 8/3, Wednesday 8/4, Thursday 8/5 and Friday 8/6 at 11 AM, 1 PM and 5 PM each day. On Saturday 8/7 at noon, Metz will provide a two-hour wrap-up of the fair to that point as well as a preview of the activities of the final two days.

In addition to live updates, for those who can not attend in person, WLCN will provide livestream YouTube coverage of two events: the Miss Logan County Fair Queen Pageant (Tuesday 8/3 at 6:30 PM) and the Logan County Fair Demolition Derby (Sunday 8/8 at 2 PM). Live video and audio coverage of those events will be provided through WLCN’s YouTube channel. Nobbe Eye Care is now Chittick Eye Care; join WLCN for the July 28 Grand Re-Opening Celebration

Everyone is invited to attend the Chittick Grand Re-Opening celebration on Wednesday, July 28 from 11 AM to 2 PM. Local favorites Nuthatch Hill BBQ and Guest House Coffee and Pastries will be serving free food to attendees. WLCN will broadcast live from noon to 2 PM, and attendees can register to win a new Brio scooter. Giveaways and eyeglass style-consulting will be offered.

6/26/21 – Heartland Community College’s Ryan Knox, Kristi Powell featured on Cheap Seats

The 6/26 episode of Cheap Seats originated from the Heartland Community College Lincoln Center. HCC Athletic Director Ryan Knox joined us to talk about the Hawks’ athletic programs, then Director of HCC’s Lincoln Center Director Kristi Powell shared information about the Lincoln campus and its offerings to local residents, including the new Hometown Hawks program.
