Presentation on “CroHurst, the Oldest Home in Logan County” by Bob Neal sponsored by Elkhart Historical Society

Bob Neal will present information about the home built by John Latham, son of Judge James Latham, around 1834, and upon John Latham’s death was purchased by John D. Gillett who willed the property to his daughter Jessie Gillett in 1891. Over the years, she created a beautiful mansion with manicured surroundings. The house passed down thru the family until being sold to John Gehlbach in 1968 and eventually was sold to Bob and Lynne Neal in 2009.
As a bonus, persons who can arrive in Elkhart by 3:30 PM on July 22 can partake of a special outing to “CroHurst House” at no additional cost to see the exterior of the home and landscaping while learning some background information about Jessie Gillett. This bonus outing is timed to return everyone back to Elkhartfor their choice of shops or refreshments prior to the 5 PM opening of the doors at the restaurant for the actual presentation.
Cost for the dinner and lecture is $45 per person.
