Entries accepted in Lincoln American Legion Auxiliary Post #263 Americanism essay contest

Lincoln American Legion Auxiliary Post #263 is sponsoring an Americanism essay contest for all students in Grades 7 through 12 enrolled in local/Lincoln schools or home schooled.

The topic for the essay is Why Am I Proud to Be an American?

Contest information has been sent to area schools and the high school guidance department. Guidelines about the contest can be obtained by calling Americanism Chair Diane Farmer at (217) 871-1179.

Prizes will be awarded to the top entries. The local essay winners from each class are sent on to the district Level; first place winners from the district level move on to the national level.

This essay is only eligible to students at Lincoln schools. Students in outlying communities in and around Logan County should check with their local Legion Auxiliary post.

Essays must be received by February 2, 2024. Entries can be:

  • emailed to Diane Farmer at bob.diane.farmer@gmail.com
  • turned in to the student’s school
  • mailed to Diane Farmer, 1209 700th Avenue, Lincoln, IL 62656
  • dropped off at the American Legion Post #263, 1740 5th Street in Lincoln.
