Annual postal food drive by U.S. Postal Service

The annual Postal Food Drive will take place on Saturday, May 11.
While making their rounds, mail carriers will pick up donations of canned or boxed, non-perishable food placed by mailboxes. In Lincoln, donations will be divided between local food pantries.
In addition, the Salvation Army Lincoln 360 Life Center is seeking volunteers for two-hour shifts throughout the day to assist with various tasks associated with the food drive, including sorting through canned items, loading items onto the van from the post office, unloading the food times from the van into the center, sorting food items onto the food pantry shelves. Shift times and tasks during those shifts are:
** 9 AM to 10 AM – Set up
** 10 AM to noon – Loading/unloading van; shelving/stocking
** Noon to 2 PM – Loading/unloading van; shelving/stocking
** 2 PM to 4 PM – Loading/unloading van; shelving/stocking
** 4 PM to 6 PM – Loading/unloading van; shelving/stocking
Times may vary, as volunteers do not begin working until the letter carriers have completed bringing in food items back from their routes. It may end early, or go later.
