Earlier this season as first-year LCHS head football coach Aaron Fricke spelled out goals for his team, he mentioned learning the new systems he installed and showing progress throughout the season. He added that making it into the playoffs would be great eventually, but at this time, he was more interested in building the program and setting a good foundation for future seasons.
Well, Fricke may have to revise his timetable.
For the first time since the 2023-2024 season, the Railer football team is headed to the IHSA playoffs. Lincoln will take on Highland at a yet-to-be-determined date and time in a first-round matchup in the IHSA Class 4A division.
The IHSA expanded its playoff format this season to include more teams than in previous years. The organization uses a formula based win-loss records, wins by opponents and school size to determine placement in the IHSA’s eight divisional brackets.
WLCN will provide more information as details about the game become available. WLCN will provide postseason coverage of the Railer football team.
