A partnership between local businesses will help ensure continued live videostream coverage of events in and around Lincoln and Logan County.
WLCN 96.3 FM, Logan County’s only commercial radio station, has reached an annual agreement with ME Realty for the Lincoln-based real estate office to serve as WLCN’s livestream technology sponsor.
“Our station is proud to partner with a community-focused business such as ME Realty,” said Loyd Kirby, marketing manager for WLCN. “ME Realty has deep roots in Lincoln and Logan County, as well as a long history of community involvement in the area, and that’s the mindset WLCN has in bringing local programming to local audiences with its live videostreaming operation.”
The arrangements allow WLCN to maintain and update its videostreaming equipment in exchange for promotional and advertising considerations for ME Realty.
“ME Realty prides itself on providing the best service to clients in providing them with guidance and support needed throughout selling or buying a home,” said Seth Goodman, owner of ME Realty. “Not only do we want buyers to feel comfortable in their new home, we want them to feel comfortable with and a part of their community. Shared experiences and events help bring communities together, so ME Realty helping support livestreamed local events is an extension of helping clients feel ‘they’re home’ and part of the community.”
Since 2018, WLCN has provided livestream video coverage of a variety of events, including LCHS football and boys’ and girls’ basketball. In addition, WLCN livestreams other events, such as the Logan County Fair Queen contest, local IESA boys and girls basketball state tournament games, the Logan County Fair Demolition Derby, the LCHS grand march prior to prom and weekly WLCN programming including the Cheap Seats Saturday Morning Sports Show, Viewpoint with Dara Entwistle and The 4 PM 411 with Loyd Kirby.
All live videostreamed programs air via YouTube. Audio-only streaming of programs is available through the Mixlr app. Access to all online video and audio livestreams is available through the station’s web site, WLCNOnline.com.
However, with a budget geared toward obtaining and maintaining equipment for operation of the radio station, WLCN has operated with a bare minimum of gear to carry out video livestreaming. Kirby said that if a key piece of equipment failed to operate, or if multiple events to be livestreamed took place at the same time, that put a huge strain on WLCN’s resources.
“For WLCN to maintain and hopefully expand its live videostreaming offerings, it was essential for us to find a civic-minded partner to help allow us to provide coverage,” Kirby said. “ME Realty, with its tradition of civic involvement, is a perfect fit to assist WLCN in meeting the technological demands of live videostream coverage of events.”
ME Realty has been the top-performing real estate office in Logan County year after year. With 16 licensed real estate agents to assist sellers and buyers, ME Realty offers clients reputation, experience and quality in finding a home.
Located in rural Atlanta, WLCN is the flagship station for LCHS football along with boys’ and girls’ basketball broadcasts. The station first signed on the air in April 2001 and has a unique “two formats in one station” operation, playing “Today’s Best Country” from 4 AM until 6 PM when the “FIX 96 Classic Rock Experience” is on the air from 6 PM through 4 AM.
