IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular Show Debuts August 21 on WLCN 96.3 FM

Fighting Illini sports fans will have a new way to keep up with the latest news and information about University of Illinois teams as well as others in the region as WLCN 96.3 FM in Atlanta adds the IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular syndicated radio show to its lineup.

The IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular program premieres August 21 at 10 AM on WLCN and will air each week right after WLCN’s long-running Cheap Seats Saturday Morning Sports Show, the No. 1-rated sports show of all programs originating on Saturdays between 9 AM and 10 AM in Logan County. The IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular will run until noon with the hosts discussing Illini sports along with other Illinois area-related teams such as the Bears, Cubs, Bulls, Blackhawks, White Sox and Cardinals.

“Lincoln is a sports-minded town,” said WLCN station manager Jim Ash. “The IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular Show will complement WLCN’s coverage of local athletics by providing our listeners with additional insights and information about the Illini and other teams in the region.”

The IlliniGuys franchise began with the IlliniGuys.com web site and was founded by long time Illini sports journalist Brad Sturdy, former AAU coach and Illini Super Fan Mike Cagley, and former CNN and NBATV anchor Larry Smith. The trio started its coverage in the 2020-21 basketball season and produces a variety of Illini content including news stories, opinions, recruiting updates, game previews and analysis, podcasts, and YouTube videos. Former Sports Illustrated writer Matt Stevens has been added to anchor football coverage.

The IlliniGuys Sports Spectacular syndicated radio show launches the weekend of August 20 on a statewide network of stations.

WLCN 96.3 FM is true regional Central Illinois radio, located outside Atlanta and covering Lincoln as the flagship station for LCHS Railer basketball and football. In addition to the radio, listeners can hear the Cheap Seats and IlliniGuys shows via the Mixlr app. The Cheap Seats show can also be viewed live via WLCN’s livestream of the program on its YouTube channel, accessible by visiting the Listen/Watch Online area of WLCNOnline.com.
