WLCN BASKETBALL BROADCAST EXPERIENCE

Terms, Conditions & Guidelines

WLCN 96.3 FM is donating this basketball broadcast experience to the Pink Pumpkin Fundraiser in Lincoln, Illinois for use as a fundraising auction item to raise funds for the American Cancer Society.

WLCN is not conducting, administering or determining the winner of the charity’s auction. All bidding, payment, eligibility requirements and auction procedures are handled by the administrators of the Pink Pumpkin Auction according to their own rules.

The following terms and conditions apply to the broadcast experience donated by WLCN.

THE EXPERIENCE

The winning bidder will receive the opportunity for one person (hereinafter referred to as Participant) to take part as a guest broadcaster for one eligible WLCN broadcast of a Lincoln Community High School boys or girls game during the 2026-27 basketball season.

Plans for the experience include:

  • Joining WLCN’s broadcast team at the game;
  • An orientation on the setup and procedure utilized during a WLCN basketball broadcast;
  • Participating in the live broadcast as an announcer and in other appropriate portions of the broadcast experience at the discretion of WLCN and as agreed to by the participant.

SELECTION OF THE GAME

The specific game will be agreed upon by WLCN and the participant, subject to availability.

Selection of games may be impacted by:

  • Broadcast-rights availability;
  • School and venue policies;
  • IHSA or other applicable athletic-association requirements;
  • Existing broadcast or media agreements;
  • Game scheduling;
  • Weather-related changes or cancellations;
  • WLCN staffing and technical requirements; and
  • Other circumstances beyond WLCN’s reasonable control.

Winning the auction does not guarantee participation in a particular game, matchup, date, location or broadcast.

If the participant’s preferred game is not eligible or available, WLCN will work with the participant to identify another eligible WLCN basketball broadcast.

ROLE OF THE PARTICIPANT

The participant will serve as a guest broadcaster, not as an independent WLCN announcer.

WLCN personnel will retain complete editorial and technical control of the broadcast at all times.

WLCN will work with the participant in advance to determine things such as:

  • The participant’s specific role during the broadcast;
  • In which portion(s) of the broadcast the participant takes part;
  • When and for how long the participant is on the air;
  • Any arrangements or changes necessary for programming, technical, editorial, legal or other reasons.

Participation in the experience does not guarantee that every comment made by the participant will be broadcast or archived.

ON-AIR CONDUCT

Because the experience involves participation in a live radio broadcast, the participant agrees to conduct themselves appropriately and follow all instructions provided by WLCN personnel.

The participant agrees to:

  • Follow the reasonable instructions of WLCN personnel;
  • Arrive at the designated location at the time specified by WLCN;
  • Use appropriate language and behavior while participating in all aspects of preparation or taking part in the experience;
  • Refrain from making obscene, threatening, defamatory, derogatory or otherwise inappropriate comments;
  • Respect players, coaches, officials, school personnel and other individuals;
  • Comply with all school, venue, WLCN broadcast policies and FCC regulations; and
  • Avoid interfering with broadcast equipment or operations.

WLCN reserves the right to limit, suspend or terminate the participant’s involvement if the participant engages in inappropriate or disruptive conduct, fails to follow instructions, interferes with the broadcast or otherwise creates a situation that WLCN reasonably determines could compromise the broadcast and/or the safety of those involved.

SCHEDULING

WLCN will coordinate with the participant to schedule the experience during the applicable basketball season.

WLCN will make reasonable efforts to accommodate the participant’s scheduling preferences but cannot guarantee availability on a particular date or of a particular game.

If a scheduled game is postponed, canceled or becomes unavailable for broadcast, WLCN will work with the participant to select another eligible broadcast.

If the winner is unable to participate on the mutually agreed-upon date, WLCN may, at its discretion, provide an alternative eligible date. If no mutually acceptable date can be arranged, the experience may be forfeited.

TRAVEL AND EXPENSES

The participant is responsible for all transportation, parking, meals, tickets and other personal expenses associated with participating in the experience.

RECORDING, BROADCAST AND PROMOTIONAL USE

The winning bidder understands that participation occurs during a live radio broadcast and will be recorded, videostreamed, as well as archived in audio and video recordings by WLCN.

By participating in the experience, the participant grants WLCN permission to use the participant’s name, voice, photograph, likeness and statements in connection with the broadcast, related recordings and reasonable promotional or publicity materials for WLCN, without additional compensation.

The participant understands that WLCN may distribute or archive the broadcast or recordings through radio, streaming, its website, social media, podcasts, video or other media.

NO CASH VALUE OR TRANSFER

The broadcast experience has no cash value and may not be redeemed for cash.

The experience may not be sold to another person.

CHANGES TO THE EXPERIENCE

WLCN reserves the right to modify the details of the experience when reasonably necessary because of broadcast-rights restrictions, scheduling, venue or school requirements, technical considerations, staffing, weather, safety concerns or other circumstances beyond WLCN’s reasonable control.

If necessary, WLCN may substitute another eligible basketball broadcast experience of reasonably comparable nature.

RELATIONSHIP TO THE CHARITY AUCTION

This experience is donated by WLCN to the Pink Pumpkin Auction (held October 1, 2026) as a fundraising auction item for its fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

WLCN does not conduct or administer the auction and does not determine the winning bidder.

All questions regarding bidding, auction procedures, payment, receipts, tax-deductibility of the winning bid and other aspects of the charity’s auction should be directed to administrators of the Pink Pumpkin Auction.

The winning bidder’s receipt of the broadcast experience and the participant’s involvement in the broadcast is subject to these WLCN terms and conditions.
