Lecture and book signing event with author Cheryl Eichar Jett (“Aprons Away: Women’s Work on Route 66”) sponsored by Ink & Imprint Books and Lincoln Public Library in the LPL Carnegie Building

Just in time for this year’s 100th anniversary of the iconic Mother Road, Ink & Imprint Books and Lincoln Public Library are teaming up to bring author Cheryl Eichar Jett to Lincoln for a lecture and book signing from 5:30–7:00 p.m. on Thurs., June 18, 2026, at the Lincoln Public Library Carnegie Building.

Jett’s new book, Aprons Away: Women’s Work on Route 66, examines the myriad roles women played along Route 66. The book was published in April 2026 by Reedy Press. Ink & Imprint Books has copies of the book available at the bookstore now and will sell copies at the event on June 18.

Cheryl Eichar Jett is an American author, playwright, and journalist with seven previous books, including Route 66 in Illinois, and hundreds of published articles. Known for her Route 66 and travel writing for Arcadia Publishing, Quarto, and ROUTE Magazine, she earned a graduate degree in history from SIUE. For 10 years, Jett has traced the crossroads of women’s history with Route 66 and has directed two productions of her stage play based on that research. Cheryl has also been selected to be one of twelve speakers for the National Route 66 Centennial Speakers Series.
