But we can’t help publicize events if we don’t know about them; please get your event information to us! We understand your time is valuable, so we’ve tried to make it simple for you to let us know about your events:

  1. Create a Facebook event page (different than a regular post)
  2. This takes just a few minutes and, while the Facebook numbers may not indicate it, this is one of the most useful things you can do.

When you create a Facebook event, you are creating a “one-stop shop” to give your event extra visibility with information people need, such as the date, time, location, description and other details.

This is much more useful than just making a standard post about the event. Posts are designed to be seen by followers of your page. And depending on when and where you share your post, users might not see if if they have to scroll back in your post history to encounter the information. You can share posts to groups and community pages, but those posts don’t always make it to your intended audience as well as you’d hope.

    Why?

A regular Facebook post has a relatively short life in people’s News Feeds, and current industry research suggests the average organic Facebook Page post reaches only a small percentage of a Page’s followers. One recent benchmark puts the average at about 1.25%. While the actual percentage varies considerably by page size and content, a Facebook Event gives your event its own page with the date, time, location and other important information. That makes it much easier for WLCN to find your event and use those details when helping to promote it.

In addition, Facebook occasionally gives users event suggestions, further increasing the reach and exposure for your event.

  3. Include WLCN on your media distribution list by sending your event information
  4. If you have a press release, flyer or other information prepared about the event, we don’t want to create more work for you in letting us know about it.

Simply include WLCN on your media distribution list, or forward your press release/flyer/information to WLCN by email at events@wlcnonline.com.

  5. Use our online event form
  6. If you don’t have a flyer or press release, you can also submit your event information directly through our Community Events submission form. Simply click here, fill in the information, then click Send.

Our free community-promotion opportunities are a great way to get basic information about your event in front of local people, but if you’re looking for more extensive promotion, WLCN also offers affordable paid advertising options that can provide additional frequency, reach and visibility. To explore these options, contact WLCN at advertise@wlcnonline.com.

Regardless of the option, WLCN would love to help promote your event. Let WLCN know about your upcoming events so we can help get the word out!
